Some of The Challenges Facing Oro Valley
Town Finances
Town Management tells us that the 2011 Budget is now in balance. Still, there are areas of spending that can and should be challenged. We'll keep an eye on Council as they deal with these challenges.
Naranja Town Site
As some point, the town will reopen discussion of what to do with the Naranja Town Site. For sure, someone on Council will want to restart these discussions and, once again, raise the idea of building, perhaps, more than we can handle.
Sign Codes
Nothing seems ever be settled. Though we have written sign codes. The codes are not enforeced. Council is creating a task force to decide if an how the codes should be revised.
Golder Ranch Fire District Annexation of Oro Valley
Annexation is virtually complete. Tax bills have doubled. And there isn't much you can do about it since the fire district has power to tax you to death.
Our New Council: 2010-2011
Who will lead the new Council is not yet determined. For sure, there are five new members, out of seven. How this Council will "come together" to work together will be fun to watch and a challenge for wheover leads it. What will their agenda be? What will their legacy be?
Growth
Fostering intelligent growth in high paying jobs isn't going to be easy. Oro Valley is a great place to live. We must make it a great place to work. How will we do this?
