"Too Many Cops?"

Tom Peterson: June 7, 2007

It seems like Oro Valley has an excessively large police department. The ratio of police officers to citizens for Tucson is about 1 for 600; and Oro Valley about 1 for 400.

Now it sounds like they want to increase the number of officers. I think they should hold the number constant or decrease it.  Oro Valley is definitely not a high crime area and our ratio shouldn't be any higher than Tucson.

Government agencies have a tendency to grow out of control if not watched closely.
