Quality-Service-Price--- Pick any two!
Evan Wise: June 25, 2007
Quality Price and Service are the three components that shoppers look for. Utility is another but that is a function of the shoppers situation. Quality and Service both require time and expense to provide.
In order to get a low price, you must give up service or quality. That is one way Wal-Mart is killing America and driving specialty retailers to the high end where Wal-Mart can't compete.
Wal-Mart produces overseas (They import more from China than Russia and are China's 8th largest trading partner!), rape the suppliers by offering huge contracts (cutting price and forcing them to use child labor and unbelievably bad labor conditions) and skimp on service at the stores (walk through a Wal-Mart then run by a Costco and watch the check out in each!) .
Wal-Mart can offer service, quality AND price for a period of time in any one store long enough to drive competition out of the market. Once they are the only game in town, they can lower quality, service and price and still monopolize the shopping environment. Why do you think the grocery stores are
all worried about a Wal-Mart blitz into the area?
The face of Oro Valley is about to change and it won't be pretty. It won't be upscale. It won't make Oro Valley more sought after, valuable or desirable. You will get incredibly low price, low service AND low quality.
