A VISION OF THE MARKETPLACE

Carmen Suarez: July 10, 2007

The Oro Valley Market Place should include shops or restaurants that Tucson does not have. Not necessarily high end stores like Nordstrom, but something else that Tucson lacks or has but which Oro Valley does not have because of distance. An example would be a Cosco or a  Fuddruckers.  What about a Cheesecake Factory Restaurant?  An attraction of a different kind.

I can't understand why Vestar would not go for something like this.  It would still be a win-win situation.  The Market Place would still be built, but without the Wal-Mart incentive and thus the incentive of other places.  We also need to remember that there are young families here and something geared towards them would be a big winner too.

I hope that Vestar hears all of our pleas and thinks outside the box.

The community of Oro Valley deserves better and a chance to grow responsibly so that, in the future, we are not stuck with things that are not worth our support.  Let's have a unique area that is planned accordingly.  Tucson does have a history of not planning appropriately and ignoring the fact that growth, especially in this area is inevitable.
