"Ways we can help in the effort to replace Wal-Mart from the Oro Valley Marketplace:

Let others who live in Oro Valley know what’s going on and ask them to sign the pledge online.
Circulate a pledge petition at meetings and events in which you participate. You can print them yourself.
Download and distribute flyers to a few streets in your area. Place them securely under doormats, near (not touching) the mailbox or in the grillwork of the front door.
Write letters to the editors of the local newspapers and comment directly on their Web sites, especially when they print stories relating to our cause.
Attend Town Council meetings and voice your concern.
Display a "no Wal-Mart" bumper sticker or button.
Offer to help collect signatures at various places.

Our pledge drive is similar to a successful campaign in Chandler, Arizona, in which Vestar removed Wal-Mart as its anchor and replaced it with other stores. We are asking Vestar to do the same here in beautiful Oro Valley. A 24/7 Wal-Mart Supercenter across from Catalina State Park and in the shadows of the Catalina Mountains is not right for our Town of Excellence."
